The New Norcia Benedictine Monastery Oval, the monastery is Australia's only monastic town, established in 1847 by Spanish Benedictine monks and still operates as a Benedictine Monastery today. The camping area is opposite the Monastery, 100 metres or so off the Great Northern Highway. Here you can visit the Museum and Art Gallery, and take a conducted tour of the monastery, or simply take a short walk down to Moore River East.
